The Itinerary
We spent 7 days taking a road trip through Scotland. We started in Edinburgh and worked our way over to the Isle of Skye. I highly recommend finding a central location and doing day trips. Below are our hotels listed by location.
Point A Hotel (Edinburgh)
We really loved this hotel and the location! The hotel wasn’t near a loud street and was a great walking distance from the Old and New Town. The rooms were small, but if you’re only in there for sleeping and changing, it gets the job done. We did have breakfast at the hotel and it was simple, but delicious and the perfect amount to jump start our day.

Kincraig Castle (Invergordon)
If you want to stay somewhere that gives you a small castle feel, this is it. The rooms are the biggest you’ll stay in during your whole trip, but the views are just stunning. It is a little bit dated in terms of decor and rooms, but it’s a unique find that gives you peace and quiet in the highlands. I wish we could have had more time to explore the grounds or just sit and listen to the birds while sipping on some tea and looking across the land. The food was great, we had dinner and breakfast. When we arrived it was a sunday and not many people were around so it was quiet and we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves before sitting down in the dining room.
This was where we woke up on our very first wedding anniversary and I’m not sure how we will ever top it! The castle hotel was a very cool experience and while the rooms were slightly dated, I do recommend looking into this as an affordable option if you want a castle stay.

Coolin Inn (Isle of Skye)
Make reservation as soon as you know you are going! We LOVED this hotel. It was small and there was no elevator so while we were on the third floor and had to carry all our luggage up the stairs, the room and location made it worth it. Once in our room, the views were amazing. Our window looked out over the water and down at the town. It was quiet, but walkable to everywhere in town we needed to go. We really loved our stay here and for the price, hard to beat. I really can’t recommend this location enough!

Premiere Inn (Edinburgh – Airport)
We had an early flight to Dublin for our second half of our trip and we needed to be close to the airport for our flight. This hotel was fine for an airport hotel, although I would recommend going somewhere else for food.
